I’m here to pay tribute to an album that made a huge impact on me as a youngster: Everclear’s So Much For The Afterglow. I remember unwrapping the plastic from the Borders casing. I was just a tiny child about to get my world rocked. My family had just moved back from Rome, so I was weird, but I hadn’t hit puberty so I wasn’t getting bullied —yet ;). This was one of my First CDs, so it would be sacred to me even if it wasn’t objectively a masterpiece. The nervous wonder I felt towards American culture was still pure, my awe at those shiny Michael Stars camis and Chupa Chups was the same as it had been for the Pompeii lava people, boob graffiti, and crayon etchings of SPQR in Rome. How do you do fellow kids!
